If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a theatre or you’re interested in old movie cameras, deco buildings and organs then head to the Majestic Theatre Pomona on the 24th October 2026 for this year’s Open House.
The doors open at 9am and we will be conducting guided tours of the theatre from 10am. Bookings essential. Or you can do a self-guided tour with our information card. There will be a free screening of a silent film at 12 noon with Chris Rose accompanying on the 1937 Compton Organ.
WHAT’S TO SEE
Our projector & movie museum will be open in the ‘bio box’ and its stuffed full of old movie memorabilia, projectors, reels & posters from a bygone time. We will also be giving a demonstration of the 1912 Powers Projector which was one of the original projectors installed at the theatre.
Go back stage and see what goes on behind the scenes & view our “Wall of Fame” and the Green Room.
View the 1937 Compton Organ. See the organ bellows and peep inside the organ pipe chamber with its 850 pipes.
View a free Silent Film at 12 noon. Accompanied by Chris Rose on the 1937 Compton Organ. We’ve chosen two short comedies. Buster Keaton in “One Week” and “Back Stage” featuring Rosko ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle & Buster Keaton.
See a running 8mm reel to reel in the main hall as a demonstration of how movies used to be screened.
Check out our “on stage” display of old theatre equipment.
View the memorabilia cabinet in the “Ron West Bar”.
