Get ready to be moved and uplifted. Famous Australian singer/songwriter Karen Knowles is bringing her “Songs and stories of Australia” show to the Majestic Theatre Pomona on August 1st for one night only.
Karen rose to fame as a child performer on the TV show Young Talent Time from 1975 – 1980 where her angelic voice made her a household name. At 16 she was signed to Ron Tudor’s Fable Records and her debut single “Why Won’t You Explain” went gold. Since then, Karen has enjoyed an extensive musical career and has several gold and platinum records to her name. In the early 1990s she joined legendary Australian Folk group The Seekers as lead singer.
The Pomona show will celebrate music by iconic Australian artists such as Judith Durham and The Seekers, Olivia Newton John, Archie Roach, John Farnham and Icehouse. Plus, Karen will perform some of her own original works and songs from her childhood including her days on Young Talent Time. Audiences can expect to hear original songs Karen hasn’t sung on stage before plus seminal Aussie ‘anthems’ such as Great Southern Land and A Touch of Paradise.
Karen will perform alongside talented harmonica player Justin Brady who is best know for playing in the folk-rock band “Things of Stone and Wood”
The show is on Friday August 1st at the Majestic Theatre Pomona from 7 – 9 pm.
