DESCRIPTION:In commemoration of the passing of Ron West we will screen "Son
  of the Sheik" the first silent film screened by him at the Majestic Theat
 re Pomona back in the early 1980's.\n\nSYNOPSIS - In his final film perfor
 mance before his death in 1926\, Rudolph Valentino tackles two roles\, as 
 a father and his son. Ahmed (Rudolph Valentino) the son of an Arab sheik a
 nd a kidnapped English gentlewoman (Agnes Ayres)\, loves local dancing gir
 l Yasmin (Vilma Banky). When he slips out of his father's heavily guarded 
 compound to woo her\, he is kidnapped and held for ransom by a group of ba
 ndits led by Yasmin's father (George Fawcett) and Ghabah (Montaug Love)\, 
 the Moor to whom she is betrothed.\n\nRon West played this film at the Maj
 estic Theatre Pomona over 4000 times and it was instrumental in solidifyin
 g the theatre as a silent movie house.\n\nChris Rose our resident organist
  will accompany the movie live on the 1937 Compton Organ.\n\nDoors and bar
  open at 11am. Movie screens at 12 noon. Tickets $15 and free for kids 13 
 and under. No need to book get your tickets at the door.
