SUMMARY:SILENT FILM - TRAMP TRAMP TRAMP - HARRY LANGDON - 1926
DESCRIPTION:Tramp\, Tramp\, Tramp is a 1926 American silent comedy film dir
ected by Harry Edwards and starring Harry Langdon and Joan Crawford.\n\nSy
nopsis - Harry is a ne'er-do-well who falls in love with Betty\, a girl on
a billboard. Harry participates in a cross country foot race hoping to wi
n prize money in hopes of marrying her.\n\nHarry wins the race when a torn
ado strikes near the finish line. Harry is so innocently oblivious to it t
hat he simply walks through the disaster while the other contestants run f
or cover.\n\nHenry Philmore "Harry" Langdon (June 15\, 1884 – December
22\, 1944) was an American actor and comedian who appeared in vaudeville\
, silent films (where he had his greatest fame)\, and talkies. Born in Cou
ntil Bluffs\, Iowa. Langdon began working in medicine shows and stock comp
anies while in his teens. In 1906\, he entered vaudeville with his first w
ife Rose Langdon. Success led him into feature films\, directed by Arthur
Ripley and Frank Capra. With such directors guiding him\, Langdon's work ri
valed that of Charlie Chaplin\, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. At the hei
ght of his career\, Langdon was making $7\,500 per week\, a fortune for th
e times. In his obituary the New York Times wrote that "his whole appeal w
as a consummate ability to look inexpressibly forlorn when confronted with
manifold misfortunes—usually of the domestic type.\n\nJoan Crawford (b
 orn Lucille Fay LeSueur\; March 23\, 1906 - May 10\, 1977) hailed from Sa
n Antonio Texas. She started her career as a dancer in traveling theatrica
l companies before debuting on Broadway. Crawford was signed to a motion-p
icture contract by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1925. Initially frustrated by th
e size and quality of her roles\, Crawford launched a publicity campaign a
nd built an image as a nationally known flapper by the end of the 1920s. C
rawford's fame rivaled MGM colleagues Norma Shearer and Greta Garbo. Joan
Crawford was one of the few Hollywood actresses to move smoothly from sile
nt pictures to 'talkies'.\n\nDoors and bar open at 11am. Coffee\, tea\, re
freshments &amp\; snacks available. Movie screens at 12 noon. Tickets $15
