DESCRIPTION:The Docks of New York is a 1928 American silent drama film dire
 cted by Josef von Sternberg and starring George Bancroft\, Betty Compson a
 nd Olga Baclanova. The movie was adapted by Jules Furthman from the John M
 onk Saunders story The Dock Walloper.\n\nSynopsis - Bill Roberts works as 
 a stoker on a coal-red barge. It's dirty\, hard work and the men have to p
 ut up with a foreman\, Andy\, who seems to enjoy making their life miserab
 le. When finally off the ship\, Bill sees a young woman struggling in the 
 water - apparently trying to commit suicide. He takes her to the Sandbar s
 aloon\, the sailors' hangout. The girl is Mae and Bill takes a shine to he
 r but so does Andy. One thing leads to another and Bill asks her to marry 
 him then and there. They don't have a marriage license and despite Bill pr
 omising to get one first thing the morning he decides to leave her behind.
  When she gets into trouble however\, Bill steps in.\n\nDoors and bar open
  at 11am offering tea\, coffee\, snacks and refreshments. Movie screens at
  12 noon. Tickets $15 and free for kids 13 and under. No need to book\, ge
 t your ticket at the door.\n\nMovie duration - 76 minutes.
