DESCRIPTION:Tom Baker was a highly respected traditional and mainstream jaz
 z musician who became a major figure in Australia’s jazz scene after mov
 ing from the United States to Sydney in the 1970s. Best known as a trombon
 ist\, he was also skilled on trumpet\, saxophone\, clarinet\, tuba\, and b
 ass. In 1975 he founded Tom Baker’s San Francisco Jazz Band\, which gain
 ed international recognition for its classic New Orleans and swing-style j
 azz. He performed with famous artists including Oscar Peterson and Cab Cal
 loway. He died suddenly from a heart ailment in 2001 while touring Europe
 \, aged 49\, but remains remembered as one of Australia’s finest jazz mu
